April 1st has dawned chilly and wet. i always feel like the first day of the month sets the tone for the subsequent days. in this instance, however, i don't feel that is the case.
in 28 days i turn 25. in 5 days i start my new job at a design firm in Nashville. it's a trial-basis thing, contract work, but i'm finding that that's how most people get their jobs these days. they check you out to see if you suck and if you don't, you're in. either way, it will be a fabulous opportunity in the area of town i love.
i do feel bad for leaving the temp job i've had in the interim. only nine days at this job; that's the shortest i've ever worked anywhere. even my first job spanned a month.
the times are strange and the opportunities are running high like that overflowing gutter i neglected to step over coming into the building. one shoe wet, one shoe dry. half in, half out.
he's off doing secret things and i notice more and more that i'm learning to shut down that part of myself that aches and rages in his absence. preparations for the road ahead, i guess. but when he comes home, everything shifts into overdrive like a finely tuned machine, ready to be put through its paces after a time in a garage.

I think my first job lasted all of two days. I was a grocery bagger. One night they asked me to go and clean the bathrooms. Nobody could imagine the terror that awaited me behind the swinging doors. That was it, the second (and last) day I worked as a grocery bagger. I'm excited for you!!
