01052005 Entry: "resolutions"

as a rule, i don't make resolutions anymore because they are made too lightly (and sometimes at 11:45 on December 31st after much champagne has already passed one's lips) and easily forgotten or broken. this is highly evident when i show up at the gym at 6 a.m. only to find the parking lot and the street packed with cars that will not be there by the time February rolls around.

still, with as warm as it has been, i feel this sense of un-accomplishment, like i have been lazy and it's April already and i haven't lost that 10 pounds i swore (secretly) that i would lose by my birthday. but it's only January 5th, i haven't paid rent yet, and it isn't the end of the world.

i have eight more days of work at this job. 14 if you count the weekends and holidays in between. today i went to a meeting and met the guy who will be "assuming responsibility of projects" in my absence. i felt like a mother giving up a child for adoption. some of these projects, i couldn't care less about, honestly. but the ones i'm going to add to my resume, the ones i'm going to hold my head high about...i will miss those because they're not quite finished. how do i put that on a resume?

Achievements at Previous Job:
Nearly finished work on Godsend in Disguise that Saved Money and Generated Revenue Project but had it ripped from my hands.
Offered constructive criticism and input that ultimately resulted in the success of the Creative Name With Snazzy Connotation Initiative.

i know that this move will bring both of us success and good fortune and a change of pace and love and happiness and new experiences. i wish we could go now instead of waiting. it's the weather. as nice as it is, i feel like we've missed something. the Weatherman says that it's going to be April in January for the next 10 days. it's pleasantly balmy unease, but it's unease all the same.

maybe i'm just feeling like i'm 25 before my time? hello, 2005.
