02152004 Entry: "snow snow snow snow snow!"

well, as has been true all this winter, the idiots driving in the ice and snow are more dangerous than the slippery stuff itself.

when i left for the gym it was sleeting and raining. slushy, wet roads, but not yet cold enough to be totally icy on the main drags. i made it to the gym with no trouble, had my preemptive snowday workout and headed back home. halfway to my apartment, the roads started getting nastier and the drivers got stupider.

there are two types of people out driving in nasty weather. type A (hah; that's me...but you knew that) drive like i am driving. we keep our distance from cars in front of us, we drive at a reasonable speed, we tap our brakes if necessary, but above all we keep moving.

type B's either overcompensate by slamming on their brakes or by driving at about 10 mph. type B's also drive too fucking fast for conditions; they're the ones that pass you going 80 and end up parking their cars in the ditch or the guardrail.

still, this is the South. it shuts down the state for days when it snows and the people with SUVs seem to think that having such a monstrosity makes them impervious to the ice and snow. morons. i'm expecting work to be delayed or cancelled tomorrow, so i think i'm going to make my way over to my Playstation and start workin' on some levels in FF X-2.

it's not just the south where they don't know how to drive in the snow. in syracuse, you'd think they'd KNOW. of course, you have the college kids, too, but it doesn't even look like they're the ones speeding past you or driving too slow. i've personally witnessed a few guard rail snuggles after seeing the same individual speed past a few miles back. at least it seems hopeful now that spring is on its way. i miss you!
